Many new Muslims who have recently reverted to Islam from Christianity,
feel uncomfortable on participating with their families in the Christmas rites.
Here are some guidelines from the Quran.

Question:
I’m still “celebrating” Christmas with my Unitarian Christian parents, although
of course I do not attend any religious services. I always feel torn this time of
year—like I’m a bad Muslim in order to be a good daughter. Also, almost all of
the ornaments on our tree are from our parents. What do reverts do whose strongest memory of family, and most of whose family gatherings took place at Christmas?
From an emotional viewpoint, it’s very difficult for me not to somehow observe
Christmas and bring out the decorations that have so many warm memories
attached to them. My husband and I are the only Muslims in the family. Any
advice? Maybe I’m just a very weak Muslim…

God is Clement. He cares little about rites and rituals. There should be nothing wrong in your SOCIAL engagement in the rites of the family.

Answer to the second question by Dr. Khalid Naseer: God invites all mankind to Hajj. Then, why are non-Muslims forbidden to come near the Sacred Masjid in Makkah?

Respected Doctor Saheb,
“God invites all mankind”, period. But our clergy loves dissension of thought and action. You will soon conclude that, once again, the prohibition comes from the man-made, ‘Imamist’ Shari’ah.

Verses 9:18, 9:28, 3:97, 22:25-28 directly answer your question.

9:18 & 9:28 mention administration of Masjids and the other verses cited here invite all humanity to Hajj.

9:18 Only those people are fit to administer or maintain the Masjids (the Centers of the Divine Order), who have unwavering belief in God and the Last Day… [Ya’mur = Maintains or administers. Yousuf Ali, Pickthall and Muhammad Asad correctly translate the word as maintaining or tending.]

9:28 O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! The idolaters have made their hearts unclean (and the Sacred Masjid of Makkah is the House of Pure Monotheism). Only those who believe in the Divine System can administer this Sacred House. So let not the Idolaters come close to it (for administering the House) after this year of theirs. If you fear loss of any gains, God will enrich you with His bounty. This is the promise of God Who is Knower, Wise. [See 9:18 for administration or maintenance. Also, note that God invites all mankind, not Muslims alone, to the Pilgrimage of the Sacred House. 3:97, 22:27]

Will the Quran contradict itself by inviting all mankind to join the Hajj Convention and then debar non-Muslims?

HAJJ IS INCUMBENT ON ALL PEOPLE, NOT ON MUSLIMS ALONE

3:97 Pilgrimage to this House is a duty all mankind owe to God, those who have the circumstantial means to undertake the visit. One who denies this command should know that God is Absolutely Independent of all His creation. [Mankind can realize the blessings of unity by rallying around this Divinely appointed Center. 22:25-28]

22:25 Surely, those who reject the truth and bar people from the path of God, and from the Center of Divine Ideology, the Sacred Masjid, must know that We have appointed it for all mankind alike. This is the Inviolable House of collective submission for the locals as well as the visitors (2:125). Whoever seeks to relegate it from Ideology to ritualism, directly or through side cannels, We will make him taste an awful doom. [Zulm = Relegation from the rightful place]

22:27 “And announce to mankind the duty of Pilgrimage. They will come to you on foot, and on every kind of fast mount, coming from every far-away point on earth.”

22:28 So that they might see with their own eyes and experience what benefits the Divine System holds for them (in addition to uniting them in the common bond of humanity).

How will the non-Muslims see and experience the benefits, if they are debarred from Pilgrimage?
Please reflect again on the ‘administration’ and ‘maintenance’ of the Masjids - And the fact that HAJJ has been enjoined upon all humanity, not on Muslims alone. None but the N2Is (followers of the Man-made, Number Two Islam) would debar God’s servants from the Sacred Masjid of Makkah.

The term ‘Jizyah’ has been used in the Quran only at one place. Unfortunately, it is frequently translated as ‘tribute’, ‘tax’, ‘penalty’ or something to that effect.

Why would the non-discriminating God impose any tributes or penalties on the non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic State? Income tax on all citizens, regardless of religion, might be at least equitable, though still undesirable. (The Quranic System will implement a highly benevolent Economic Order, to be discussed at some other time).

Followers of the Ajami Islam (N2I) ruling an ‘Islamic’ State have often imposed the ‘Jizyah’ tax on non-Muslims, although much less than the mandatory, but man-made, 2.5% taxes on Muslims.

But ‘Jizyah’ (from ‘Jaza’ = Recompense) literally and in the context of the verse means compensation for war damages or the lawful war reparations. Falling into the hands of ‘Islamic’ Jurists (Fuqaha), Jizyah became tribute, tax for exemption from military service, and the replacement for the ‘compulsory charity’ that Muslims must pay. Historically, this distortion of the term ‘Jizyah’ has been the subject of much criticism, propaganda and hatred against Islam and Muslims. Fortunately today, to my knowledge there is no ‘Muslim’ country enforcing Jizyah on any of her citizens.

9:29 Fight back against those (who keep violating peace treaties and commit aggression 9:1-4 and) who do not believe in God, nor in the Last Day, nor do they prohibit what God and His Messenger have prohibited (aggression 2:190), nor do they acknowledge the True Religion - among those who were given the scripture, until they pay war reparations in humility.

[‘Fight back’ (See 9:1-4 Tasreef) – against those who keep violating peace treaties and commit aggression. ‘Nor do they prohibit’ - The Quran strongly prohibits aggression. “So, fight in the cause of God those who wage war against you, but do not commit aggression. God does not love aggressors.” (2:190). Jizyah = War reparations to be paid by the aggressors, and not any kind of tribute or tax as generally but erroneously translated. Mufridaat-e-Raaghib]

The discriminatory ‘Jizyah’ tax imposed by the so-called Muslim tyrants has invariably brought shame and condemnation to Islam and Muslims.

The correct history of the exalted Prophet and his noble companions fails to show us even a glimpse of the imposition of the Jizyah tax on any non-Muslims. It was nothing but the legal reparation of the damages wrought by the aggressors to the Islamic State.

9:6 (O Messenger) if anyone of the idolaters seeks your protection or a safe passage, grant him protection from the State. Convey to him the Word of God, and then send him to a place where he feels safe and secure. This kindness on your part is mandatory because they are people who have not yet seen the beauty of the Divine System.
He is not being exiled, so, WHERE IS the ‘Jizyah’ here?

A single question from our Sister Courtney Schatz has been broken down into several questions for simplicity. I realize, there is much room for improvement in the answer. So, kindly check back the answer in three days. Your thoughts will be much appreciated. - Shabbir

1) Why do the innocent suffer serious injuries, disabilities, chronic illness and even die young? Is not God Most Merciful?
2)
When hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, snowstorms, blizzards, fatal epidemics, tornadoes, etc. strike the earth, where does God’s mercy disappear?
3)
Does God punish people in this world as well?
4)
If yes, then why do decent and innocent people suffer? Especially think of little kids.
5)
What is the fault of children who are born handicapped? A child who is blind at birth is suffering for what sin that he/she has committed?
6)
We see that some wonderful people drag through life in misery, poverty, and ill health.
7)
On the contrary, it is also observed that real bad people with horrible moral character enjoy life until death.

Respected readers,
This life-long student will try to answer these very intricate questions to the best of his ability.
I remember a few years ago Billy Graham, the most famous evangelist in America, was answering a question on TV. The brilliant Reverend Graham responded, “I really don’t know why God created evil.”
If this great mind knew the Quran, he would have an answer. God never creates evil. It is our use of things or situations that makes them good or evil.
113:1 Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of the Rising Dawn.
113:2 From the evil aspects of created things.
For another interesting episode, let us consider the late Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, sent to the gallows in 1979. Most editorials in the Pakistani newspapers had stated that Mr. Bhutto had received his punishment in this world, and therefore he had gone to the next world absolutely sinless like a newborn child. Without incriminating Bhutto or anyone else, their conclusion was entirely wrong for lack of understanding of the concept of reward and punishment given in the Quran. To say it simply, every action of ours leaves an imprint on our “self”, commonly called “soul”.
Think about this scenario: Someone looks at a valuable item and decides in his heart to steal it. But right then, the owner shows up and the person cannot steal it. Nothing happened. Nothing happened? According to Divine laws, something did happen. The crime, call it sin or violation, has been imprinted on his “self”. The negative imprint will go with him to the next life.

“My friend! I will forgive the wrong you have done to me, but who will forgive the wrong you have committed against yourself?” - Friedrick Nietzsche

This simple example impresses upon us to have the right concepts about life and death, reward and punishment as well as justice and mercy. We know that the non-Quranic systems of life rampant in the world today are entirely imperfect. The Quran says in Surah Najm that every person will be responsible and be compensated for whatever he or she strives for. This Law will be operational in a Quranic society and absolutely unwavering in the Hereafter.
53:38 No laden one shall bear the load of another.
53:39 Every human being shall be responsible for, and compensated for, his labor.
53:40 His effort (and not the results) will be seen.
53:41 Then he will be fully rewarded for it.
53:42 To your Lord is the final destination.
THE PURPOSE OF CREATION:
The Quran tells us that the universe has been created for a definite purpose. Nothing happens haphazardly. The Law of Cause and Effect is always in operation. When we fail to understand a certain event, we call it “chance”.

6:73 And He is the One Who has created the heavens and earth with a definite Purpose.
23:115 Do you think that We have created you without purpose, and that you will not be brought back to Us?”

[Life has a sublime purpose and keeps evolving like everything else in the Cosmos. So, the death of the human body is only a transition to a higher form of life for the human ‘self’]
As a general rule, the Purpose for humans is given in 67:2.
67:2 He has created death and life to let you go through diverse circumstances and, thus, distinguish for yourselves who would do better.
[The real existence on earth is of the one who benefits mankind 13:17. Men and women who create balance in the society, help the needy, and strive for the betterment of humanity with their God-given resources of wealth and person, advance their own potential of the ‘self’. Such men and women have made themselves eligible for the higher form of life in Paradise, attaining immortality. Men and women that fail to develop their own ‘self’, find the Insurmountable Barrier in front of them. This lack of progress makes them eligible only for mere survival in Hellfire. Life without progress is a Hell in itself 11:7, 18:7]

COMMUNITIES: DOES GOD PUNISH PEOPLE? God is not a tyrant. Human suffering is the natural consequence of violating His laws, individually or collectively.
7:96 If the people of the towns had believed in the Divine laws and run their system right, We would have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth. But they denied and what they earned with their deeds seized them.
7:97 Can the people of any community ever feel secure that Our requital will not come upon them at night, while they are asleep?
7:98 Or do the people of townships feel secure from the coming of Our requital upon them in the daytime while they play?
VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS: When we study the history of nations in the Quran, we find that they were annihilated for one single reason - violation of human rights. For example:
Prophet Noah’s
people ridiculed and boycotted the weak and poor. They were unjust and rebellious people.
‘Aad
used to grasp the vulnerable mercilessly. Although they had insight, they failed to establish an equitable, just system.
Thamud
oppressed the weak and denied land resources, even water wells, to the poor. They ran a cruel feudal system and allowed nine leaders to go on with their tyranny.
Prophet Shoaib’s
people deceived people in business dealings. Highway robbery had become their second nature.
Prophet Lot’s
people, being homosexual, violated women’s rights and belittled them.
Pharaoh’s people
enslaved the weak. They ran an unjust economic system and oppressed a large tribe, the Israelites.
Queen Sheba’s
people had created massive social inequity where the poor kept becoming poorer. They ignored that all mankind were created equal.
THE HUMAN BEING HAS BEEN CREATED WEAK:

4:28 God wishes to lighten your burdens (with His guidance). For, the human being has been created weak.
So, we tend to see every calamity as horrible.
THE LAW OF VARIABLE AGE:
22:5 — Then We bring you forth as infants and carry you to maturity. While some of you die young, others live to the feeblest old age so that they know nothing after knowing much.
LIFE IS SHORT:
Life is a mix of sorrow and delight but the sojourn is brief and self-limiting even if we live to be centurions.

23:112 He will ask, “What number of years did you spend on earth?”
23:113 They will say, “We stayed a day or part of a day. But ask those who keep count.”
So, we attach too much importance to death and tragedies.

LIFE OF THIS WORLD IS BUT A PASSING EXPERIENCE:
6:32 The life of this world is a play and a passing delight in comparison to the Eternal Life. The abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who live according to the Divine laws. Will you not use Reason?

DIVINE MERCY
:
Being just a dust particle in the universe is not without honor since even that is a part of the Divine Plan. On that basis, we can reflect on the existence of the handicapped or disabled children.

HUMANS ARE SPECIAL
:
17:70 Surely, We have conferred dignity on children of Adam (as a birth right, regardless of where the child is born), … And We have favored the humans far above a great many of Our creation.

OUR KNOWLEDGE IS LIMITED:
Since human knowledge is very limited, we encapsulate ourselves in the framework of time. Before God, there is eternal now. “Past”, “present”, and “future” are divisions of our own making.

THE INNOCENT VICTIMS:
If an innocent person gets injured, gravely sick, or dies, or if a little child suffers through his life, let us not be oblivious to the fact that such tragedies, although beyond our understanding, are not without Purpose. They are only doing their respect worthy, assigned role in the world, fulfilling some essential part of the Divine Plan. May God bless them and us!

According to the UN’s Special Rapporteur “honour killings had been reported in Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, the Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey and Yemen”. Egypt is 90 percent Muslim, Iran 98 percent, Jordan 92 percent, Lebanon 60 percent, Morocco 99 percent, Pakistan 97 percent, the Syrian Arab Republic 90 percent and Turkey 99 percent. Of the 192 member-states of the United Nations almost all honor killings take place in nine overwhelmingly Muslim countries. Denial is not an option.
More recently, honour killings have taken place in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and
Canada. Intriguingly, all these honor killings have taken place in Muslim communities of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada. Denial is not an option.

THE BIG QUESTION: Who is the culprit? Islam or the Muslims? Read the Quran from A to Z. You will not find anything close to such atrocities, and not even in the fabricated Ahadith. The culprit, without any doubt, is our Mullah who continues to misguide Muslims. Secondly, it is the so-called Muslims who take these criminals as their authorities. The mindless and outrageous Friday Sermons of the “Imams” seep through into the whole “Muslim” societies.

About the little Aqsa, the Canadian “Imams” have further stated: 1. Every Muslim woman must receive exemplary punishment for neglecting Hijab. 2. Nay, she must receive exemplary punishment for violating any rules of Islam. 3. We will not allow culture to dominate our religion. 4. We had fore-warned Aqsa that one day she would have to suffer grievous punishment.

Why women only? Why not slay all non-bearded men?

I think these “Imams” must be tried for instigating murder.

An Islamic cleric who leads Friday prayers at a city in Iranian Azerbaijan
has pronounced a death sentence for Iranian women who don't wear the
traditional head covering, the hijab, as well as their husbands and fathers.

"Women who do not respect the hijab and their husbands deserve to die,"
Hojatolislam Gholam Reza Hassani told the news service ADN Kronos
International.

Hassani works in the city of Urumieh, and is the representative of the
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in eastern Azerbaijan,
the report said.

"I do not understand how these women who do not respect the hijab, 28 years
after the birth of the Islamic Republic, are still alive," he said.

"These women and their husbands and their fathers must die," he said.

Fashion and Faith Meet, on Foreheads of the Pious
CAIRO — There is a strong undercurrent of competition in Egypt these days, an unstated contest among people eager to prove just how religious they are. The field of battle is the street and the focus tends to be on appearance, as opposed to conviction.
It is not that the two are mutually exclusive, but they are not necessarily linked. As Egyptians increasingly emphasize Islam as the cornerstone of identity, there has been a growing emphasis on public displays of piety.
For women, that has rapidly translated into the nearly universal adoption of the hijab, a scarf fitted over the hair and ears and wrapped around the neck. For men, it is more and more popular to have a zebibah.
The zebibah, Arabic for raisin, is a dark circle of callused skin, or in some cases a protruding bump, between the hairline and the eyebrows. It emerges on the spot where worshipers press their foreheads into the ground during their daily prayers.
It may sometimes look like a painful wound, but in Egypt it is worn proudly, the way American professionals in the 1980s felt good about the dark circles under their eyes as a sign of long work hours and little sleep.
Two decades ago, Egypt was a Muslim country with a relatively secular style. Nationalism and Arabism had alternated places as the main element of identity. But today, Egypt, like much of the Arab Middle East, is experiencing the rise of Islam as the ideology of the day.
With that, religious symbols have become the fashion.
“The zebibah is a way to show how important religion is for us,” said Muhammad al-Bikali, a hairstylist in Cairo, in an interview last month. Mr. Bikali had a well-trimmed mustache and an ever-so-subtle brown spot just beneath his hairline. “It shows how religious we are. It is a mark from God.”
Observant Muslims pray five times a day. Each prayer involves kneeling and touching one’s forehead and nose to the ground. All five prayers require placing one’s head on the ground for a total of 34 times, though many people add prayers and with them, more chances to press their heads to the ground. Some people say the bump is the inevitable result of so many prayers — and that is often the point: The person with the mark is broadcasting his observance, his adherence to one of the five pillars of Islam.[There is no such thing as Five Pillars, as explained on the Blog. But the zebibah is primarily a phenomenon of Egypt. Muslim men pray throughout the Arab world. Indeed, Egyptian women pray, but few of them end up with a prayer bump. So why do so many Egyptian men press so hard when they pray?
“If we just take it for what it is, then it means that people are praying a lot,” said Gamal al-Ghitani, editor in chief of the newspaper Akhbar El Yom. “But there is a kind of statement in it. Sometimes as a personal statement to announce that he is a conservative Muslim and sometimes as a way of outbidding others by showing them that he is more religious or to say that they should be like him.”
There are many reasons for the Islamic revival that has swept Egypt and the Middle East, from the rise of satellite television, which offers 24 hours of religious programming, to economies that offer little hope of improving people’s lives, to the resentment of Western meddling in the Middle East.
But there is also peer pressure, a powerful force in a society where conformity and tradition are aspired to and rewarded.
“I will learn more about someone when I get to know him, but the appearance is the first impression,” said Khaled Ashry, 37, a security guard at a private school.
Hanaa el-Guindy, 21, an art student in Cairo, covers her head and wears a long loose-fitting dress to hide her figure. “The outward appearance is important,” Ms. Guindy said. “It says, ‘I am a good person.’ This is a good thing. On Judgment Day, this sign, the zebibah on their forehead, will shine. It will say, ‘God is great.’”
In much of the Arab world, symbols of extreme observance are fairly standard and tend to stem from the conservative religious cultures of Persian Gulf nations, like Saudi Arabia. There is the long beard. In extreme cases men wear a loose-fitting robe that stops at their ankles, just as the prophet Muhammad wore his own gown at ankle length.
Those symbols have seeped their way into Egypt, and are growing in popularity. More and more women, for example, are covering their faces with a niqab, a black mask of cloth that has come to Egypt from the Persian Gulf. The zebibah, however, is 100 percent Egyptian, and does not carry the negative connotation of imported symbols.
Men with long beards can still find it hard to get a job. The zebibah, on the other hand, can open doors. “The zebibah can help,” said Ahmed Mohsen, 35, a messenger for a law firm whose own mark was pinkish, bumpy and peeling. “It can lead to a kind of initial acceptance between people.”
There are no statistics on the zebibah’s prevalence. But today, perhaps more than any other time in recent history, Egyptians are eager to demonstrate to one another just how religious they are.
“In Egypt, it’s the way we pray; we probably hit our heads harder than most in order to get one,” said Ahmed Fathallah, 19, as he played dominoes one evening in a Cairo coffee shop. “You also have to understand that people here like to show off their piety, maybe almost more than in the rest of the Middle East.”
There are many rumors about men who use irritants, like sandpaper, to darken the callus. There may be no truth to the rumors, but the rumors themselves indicate how fashionable the mark has become.
Not everyone has a zebibah. Plenty of Egyptians still regard their faith as a personal matter. But the pressure is growing, as religion becomes the focus of individual identity, and the most easily accessible source of pride and dignity for all social and economic classes.
“You pray, but it doesn’t come out,” said Muhammad Hojri, 23, as he gently teased his brother, Mahmoud, 21, recently while they worked in a family kebab restaurant. Muhammad has a mark. Mahmoud does not, and did not appreciate his brother’s ribbing.
“I pray for God, not for this thing on my forehead,” Mahmoud shot back.

Isn’t that horrible, dear sister? Doesn’t it say a lot more than it says? Ah, the rampant N2I filling the void left by the abandoned Quran! Moments ago, I was talking to some Arabs. While many other Muslims residing in the Middle East are upholding the Book again, the Arabs are behaving like ducks whose feathers remain dry even after a dive into deep waters. No rumor, I have seen people creating the zebibah in Yemen, Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and yes, mostly in Egypt. Again, the foundation of this nonsense was laid down by our “Imams”.

A Hadith was concocted in the name of the exalted Prophet that this mark on the forehead will shine in the grave like the full moon and also give light in the Hereafter (where we won’t have Thomas Edison’s light bulbs :-)

MAN STRANGLES 16 Y/O DAUGHTER – THE CURSEWORTHY MULLAHS

SHE REFUSED THE MANMADE HIJAB

Her brother is a possible accomplice.

In Khaled Hosseini’s novel about life in Afghanistan, A Thousand Splendid Suns, the character Nana, a poor unwed mother, tells her five-year-old daughter, Mariam: “Learn this now and learn it well, my daughter: Like a compass needle that points north, a man’s accusing finger always finds a woman. Always.”

In 25 words, the author sums up the way too many men govern the lives of women in the world of the Number Two Islam. Like the daughter, Mariam, millions of Muslim girls are told very early in life by their mothers that their place in society is one of submission; submission, not to God, but to Man.

One such girl was 16-year-old Aqsa Parvez, or Axa as she spelled her name. Axa sought to defy the medieval misogyny that novelist Hosseini alludes to in his bestseller. She paid the ultimate price for her love of life: death.

Axa’s body had not yet received a decent burial when the mandarins of Canada’s mosque establishment appeared before the media on Thursday.

They had come to do damage control, to ensure the publicity surrounding the young girl’s death, allegedly at the cruel hands of her own father, did not trigger a negative image about them and their sermons. However, in their clumsy attempt, they managed to do exactly what they had come to avert.

They talked about the price a Muslim must be prepared to “pay” if she strays away from their prescribed path of Islam. Imam Alaa El-Sayyed of Mississauga’s Islamic Society of North America mosque told the press conference: “We cannot let culture supersede religion. If we stay away from the teachings of Islam, we will pay for it.”

We don’t know how many times this warning was given to the late Axa Parvez before she had to pay for her transgressions. If these cold steely words were not enough, Imam El-Sayyed went a step further and talked about the higher status of women who cover their heads. “Women who wear hijabs occupy higher positions in Islam, according to religious teachings,” he said. Axa, he would say, had a lower place in Islam because she had refused to wear the hijab.

Axa’s death hangs like a pall of gloom over the Muslim communities of Canada. One of our daughters has been killed but the religious leaders of the community seem more interested in damage control to their reputations than the enormity of the crime. Axa Parvez is now being portrayed as somehow having invited her fate.

While repeatedly denying that Islamic teachings or tradition had any role to play in the murder, the imams at the press conference betrayed their true feelings when grilled by reporters. Imam Iqbal Nadvi of Oakville’s Al-Falah Islamic Centre mosque said that “parents fail and bring shame upon themselves if a child chooses to abandon holy writings and not wear the hijab. It is their duty to convince their kids that this is part of their culture.”

One would have hoped Islamic leaders would urge parents to spare the rod and treat their daughters with compassion and love. One would have hoped that these imams would finally admit that the Quran does not mandate the wearing of the hijab, so parents need not force it on their daughters. Instead, journalists heard a cold-hearted diatribe that bordered on blaming Axa Parvez for her death. Imam Iqbal Nadvi told the press conference, “This girl, she refused to stay at home. There were feelings that she is going in the wrong direction … going with some other boy or some other thing.”

The imams were not alone. Some young Muslim men on the Internet social site, Facebook, referred to the dead girl as a “slut,” while others e-mailed me suggesting she was pushing drugs; one panicked caller asked me, “Mr. Fatah, is it true the girl was pregnant when she died?” I was left speechless at the callous attitude of so many people.

There is something seriously dysfunctional in how the traditional Muslim leadership has reacted to the murder of Axa. Instead of outrage at the accused murderer, the attention was focused on the “image of the Muslim community.”

We cannot get back Axa Parvez, but we can show her some respect and make public our disgust at men who slander her behind her back. Imams owe it to their congregations to tell them the hijab does not elevate Muslim girls to some superior level in the eyes of God. They need to assure young Muslim women who choose not to wear the head cover that they are not committing a sin.
